2. Closure of the Cork Office

Sage Ireland has announced that the office in Cork will close this year. This closure is the result of a review of Sage’s business structure in Ireland with an emphasis on reducing fixed costs, centralisation of skills, sharing of best practice and improving service to customers. All Sage Ireland functions and services will now operate from the Dublin office.

3. One telephone number servicing the Accountants and Professionals sectors.

For your convenience, as of April 1st 2007, there has been one number servicing the Accountants and Professionals sectors. This can be used to contact any member of our sales or support teams. The options below will allow you to have quick and easy access to the relevant product support team without the need to be transferred. Have your Sage Account Number to hand.

4. Sage Accounts Production

Coming Soon - Updated Company Master
An updated Irish Company Master will be released around Spring of 2008.

Version 6.1.6.2. Update for Sage Accounts Production
The database text switch issue has been resolved in this service pack and we would recommend all our users of Sage Accounts Production V6.0. to update to V6.1. The servicepack also includes Vista Compatibility with Accounts Production. Please click on the link below, which will take you to the Sage website, where you will locate the most up to date service pack patch for Version 6.0 build 3 release 12/1201 of Sage Accounts Production. Printing or Previewing Customer or Supplier Statements in Accounts Production 6.1.6.2
If Accounts Production version 6.1 closes or exits when previewing or printing a customer or supplier statement, please follow the steps below to rectify the problem:

Open Accounts Production
Click on Tools
Click on Support Desk
Click on Reset Report Defaults
You should now be able to preview or print the statements

5. Sage Commercial and Dongles Pricing

Changes in pricing for Dongles
Due to the increasing cost of dongles, from January 2008, a charge of €80 will be placed on the purchase and replacement of each single user dongle.
Network dongles will no longer be distributed, instead standalone dongles will be sold on a “per user” basis.

Version 6.0 Update for Sage Commercial
Please click on the link below which will take you to the SAGE website, where you can locate the most up to date service pack patch for Version 6 build 3 release 13 of Commercial. The service pack will update Commercial to Version 6 build 3 release 1301.

Performing the Year End Routine in Accounts Production & Commercial

With 2007 coming to a close we realise that many of our customers may need to perform a year end routine on their datasets in Accounts Production and Commercial.
We would like to share a few tips and hints to make this process easier.

Make sure you have entered all current year transactions before running a year end routine. If you are not ready to roll forward into the New Year, you can use the postings for next year option to enter transaction for next year.

Always run the data checks report before running the year end to check for any corruption or inconsistency in the data, and run Data Maintenance options 1, 2 and 3.

If you receive a message that there are critical errors while running the year end routine, always view the errors and repair them before completing the year end. Critical errors can cause incorrect balances in the New Year if rolled forward and sometimes cannot be repaired. If you are unsure of any data check errors, please contact the support line on 1890 923 208.

6. Sage Coretime

Useful Report
To view a list of all invoices entered in the month please follow the steps below:

Click on Report
Then click on Debtors
Then click on Daybooks
Set the Finance Type to Invoice
Click Submit.

7. Sage Personal Tax Pro

Sage TaxPro Personal Tax Version 11 will be released on 15 February 2008. Features will include 2007 ROS link, which will enable users to file 2007 Tax returns on line. It will also include the 2007 Paper Form 11.

8. TAS Books

TAS Books Price Changes
The price changes below were implemented on the 1st of November 2007;

TAS Books 1, Product will be €149 but will no longer include support.
Support will be €149 extra for TAS Books 1
Cover Extra will be €178
TAS Books 2 will be €549

Changing Financial Year Dates
If the financial year dates need to be changed, the TAS program should be on the latest version build before the data is sent in to us. For example, the latest build of version 6 is v6.20. The version of TAS can be seen at the bottom of the ‘About’ option in the Help menu. It is denoted by a v number. We can provide assistance upgrading to the latest build. Just give TAS technical support a call on 1890 946 881.

9. Sage 50 Client Manager / Sage 50

Report Designer: Changing Text Colour
Within Sage Report Designer you can change the colour of text or numeric fields to enhance the appearance of your reports or layouts. To do this:

Sage 50 Accounts 2007 and above

Select the required report or layout then click Edit.
From the Sage Report Designer window, open the View menu then choose Properties.
Locate and select the required object, then from the Properties pane expand the Text Style option.
From the Color drop-down list, choose the required colour. If prompted to Update Style, click No.

Sage Accounts v12.xx and below

Select the required report or layout then click Edit.
From the Sage Report Designer window, locate and double-click the required object.
Click the Font tab, from the Text colour drop-down list, choose the required colour then click OK.

10. Sage Payroll

Ensure your Budget Update is applied for 2008

If you have not already run your budget update it is downloadable from sage.ie/pye

After running the budget update you can check if the program is correctly updated. To check, please click on the link below to view a screen shot of an updated program:

Please ensure that both you and your customers have installed the budget changes. In the PYE manual we quoted that the version number will change. On some customer sites this is not the case.

To ensure that the 2008 changes are installed follow the instructions below:

Open Quickpay / Micropay Professional
Log in as normal

On the left hand side of the screen you will see the heading Pay Run and the word 2008 Budget in brackets. This means the Budget changes have been installed. If this is not the case please call our technical support team for advice.

12.New Releases

Sage TaxPro PT (Personal Tax) v11.0
Major Features:
1 - Allows clients to 'roll forward' their information into tax year 2007 and contains the tax computation for the 2007 tax year.
2 - A number of data entry screens were redesigned
3 - A new WIP report was added and some existing reports were also updated
4 - The mail-merge is now fully functional. This allows users to create customised letters and then generate them for all clients with information from the database.

Sage Instant Accounts v14

Sage Instant Accounts v14 is currently under development and due for release in Spring 2008. A number of notable features have been introduced to help Sage Instant Accounts customers get the most from their software including:

Practice Data - The practice company can be used to test processes and procedures in Sage Instant Accounts without working for 'real' on live company data. The practice data can be maintained and added to, or wiped clean to start afresh.
Video Demonstrations - Step by step videos have been created to guide you through the key concepts and procedures appropriate to Sage Instant Accounts.
Improved Error Corrections - The error corrections process has been simplified, added to the main program navigation bar and is supported by video demonstrations.
Improved VAT management - The electronic submission of VAT Returns is supported in Sage Instant Accounts v14, and the VAT module has been redesigned bringing together all of the regular VAT processes within one module.

Quickpay 3

A new version of Quickpay is now available to download. Quickpay 3 has all the features of Quickpay standard. It is a great way to offer a demonstration, an educational tool for students studying accounting & payroll and as a mechanism for small businesses to start using Sage software.
