The Best Just Got Better – Announcing The Launch of Sage 50 2013

By David O’Reilly, Head Of Product Marketing at Sage

Sage 50 Accounts is the market leading accounts software package for SMEs.  It has been for many years. So how does Sage approach the task of improving its most popular software?

Easy, we listened to our customers. We listened to over 4000 customers when designing the release of Sage 50 2013. Then we used this feedback to make the best even better.

We implemented countless improvements to Sage 50 Accounts to produce Sage 50 2013 and every single improvement was inspired by customer feedback. Here are my top seven picks;

Seven Top Improvements In Sage 50 2013

1. Online VAT And VIES Returns Now Possible Using XML Outputs

Sage 50 2013 incorporates a simplified process for Month End, Year End and VAT returns. With online VAT submissions being mandatory from April 2012, it is even more important to get the tasks right.  Sage 50 2013 guides you through the process of doing returns to help you understand the process and know when you have completed it successfully.

With Sage 50 2013, online filing of VAT returns is enabled by default. Now you can produce a VAT return (XML file) quickly that satisfies Irish legislation. Just log into the secure area of the Irish Revenue website and the XML can be uploaded, saving time and minimising the risk of mistyping information and giving you peace of mind that you are compliant.

When you complete your VAT return in Sage 50 2013 you can now export an XML file to upload into ROS

With Sage 50 2013, XML format outputs are now available for Intrastat Arrivals, VIES and Dispatches for e-submissions on the ROS website.

2. Reporting Improvements – Report Identification And Access And Drill-Down Improvements

The Sage 50 2013 report browser includes a description of what each report shows. This is a great addition as there are over 900 reports in accounts professional so the description allows you to quickly see what each report shows. With Sage 50 2013 you can now find the report you need when you want the information quickly.

The new report browser gives accurate report descriptions and shows a quick preview of the report. The new report browser also allows you to filter quickly between details and summary reports and add reports to favourites easily. A hover over action button enables you to open or export reports quickly. More information on the report browser is available in this video.

The 'To Excel' button is available on over 100 screens and from all reports in Sage 50 2013
