We had an amazing two days at the Dublin Web Summit on the 17th and 18th October. We were exhibiting at the Web Summit to promote Sage One and Sage CRM and we had a phenomenal interest in both products.
Sage Commercial Product Manager, Simon Bell was interviewed at the Web Summit by Paul O’Mahony. You can listen to the interview in the podcast below. Simon talks about Sage One and gives some great advice about how small businesses can build their brand, but inevitably the conversation swayed towards the cupcakes.
It was great to meet business owners and current customers of Sage that dropped by to say hello. Among the many people that dropped by our stand was Krishna De of Biz Growth Media and Lorraine Carter of Persona Branding & Design.

The 26th annual BSTAI National Conference took place in the Radisson BLU hotel in Galway on 12/13th October 2012. The theme of the conference was ‘Promoting Collaboration & Enterprise in the Business Classroom”.
The weekend commenced with a conference dinner on Friday night, hosted by Sage@School. On Saturday the teachers got the opportunity to hear a key note speech from UL economist Stephen Kinsella. This was followed by a plenary session entitled ‘ICT in the Business Classroom’ by Siobhan O’Sullivan. The conference also allowed the BSTAI to launch their new website and gave teachers the opportunity to attend a variety of workshops – assisting them with methodologies and providing them with many useful tips for the classroom.
The Business Studies Teachers Association of Ireland (BSTAI) is a professional association which represents teachers of business subjects in second level schools in Ireland. It is a voluntary association with a branch network throughout the country. The teachers are involved in a wide area of business education, both directly for students organizing awards ceremonies and revision seminars but also developing educational resources for business students and organizing voluntary in-service for their members.

Fingal County Enterprise Board is hosting the Fingal Enterprise Week 2012 from Monday 1st October to Friday 5th October. Starting in 2007, it was originally a one day event of seminars and workshops. In response to demand for a greater number and variety of topics, in 2010 the Enterprise Board changed it from a one day event to a week-long series of Enterprise events. This year’s schedule includes 15 events that will take place locations throughout the county, including Balbriggan, Blanchardstown/Dublin 15, Howth, Malahide, Sutton and Swords.
QED are hosting a morning session on Monday 1st October called Working in a Digital Age in the Carlton Hotel, Dublin Airport. The aim of this round table workshop is to energise and invigorate SME businesses about the tools and opportunities in the online area. This is a half day event that will highlight to participants the way in which we do business has changed. The way in which consumers work, think, communicate, socialise and do business in the digital space has changed the way in which SME’s can do business.
The session will be run in the format of a round table with representatives from Apple, Realex, LinkedIn, Facebook and Sage available to answer questions to those attending. I will be taking part in the round table discussion and look forward to discussing the challenges of the digital era with those attending and the other people on the panel.
