Terms & Conditions of Support for ACT!

The purpose of this document is to outline the restrictions specific to the services provided by the Sage Ireland ACT Software Support Team. This document should be referenced in conjunction with the ‘Sage Ireland Terms & Conditions of SageCover’ found at www.sage.ie/legal.

The details below apply to Sage ACT customers who have an active (i.e. fully paid) SageCover Support Contract.

Within the specified dates of your ACT Maintenance Contract the agreement entitles you to the following:

  • To contact our Technical Support Helpline during operating hours (9am – 5pm Monday to Friday excluding Bank Holidays)
  • To access the ACT Support Section of www.sage.ie
  • Response to e-mailed support queries within 24 hours (Monday to Friday)
  • Software updates as required.

Note: The service is intended to assist you with technical queries relating to the use of your ACT software. The support service is not intended to replace a reasonable level of operating knowledge of the programme. While we will endeavor to support you in your use of the software, it is expected that you will also endeavor to develop an understanding of how to use the software via either taught courses or self-training.

Operating Systems

Sage ACT is supported when installed on the following Microsoft Operating Systems:

  • Windows 2000 Professional with Service Pack 4
  • 2000 Server Standard Edition with Service Pack 4
  • Windows XP Home with Service Pack 2
  • Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2
  • Windows Vista Business Edition
  • XP Media Centre Edition 2005 with Service Pack 2
  • Server 2003 Standard Edition with Service Pack 1
  • Server 2003 Enterprise Edition with Service Pack 1
  • 2003 Small Business Server operating systems with Service Pack 1

Note: Windows XP Home limits the number of concurrent users to 5.
Windows XP Professional, Windows XP Media Centre Edition and Windows 2000 Professional limit the number of concurrent users to 10.

The following Operating Systems are not supported:

  • Windows 95
  • Windows 98 SE (Second Edition)
  • Windows ME
  • Windows NT 4 with Service Pack 6
  • Linux
  • Apple Mac

Note: Sage Ireland maintain a policy of withdrawing support for any Microsoft Operating Systems which is no longer supported by Microsoft. Issues relating to unsupported operating systems may not be resolved by Sage Ireland Software Support or Software Development Teams. Visit www.sage.ie/legal for more information.

Networks

Sage ACT is supported only when installed on Client/Server networks. The following network configurations are not supported:

  • Peer-to-peer network
  • Citrix client/server network
  • WAN (Wireless Area Network)
  • Any remote/terminal network

Any network settings, mapping drives or connectivity queries are not supported by Sage Ireland. Queries of this kind must be referred to your IT department, Network Administrator or Sage Accredited Business Partner.

ACT! 2008 Minimum System Requirements:

  • Minimum 600 MHz Pentium III (or equivalent) processor
  • Minimum 1GB RAM
  • Minimum 1000 MB of available hard disk space
  • CD-ROM drive
  • SVGA (800x600) or higher resolution monitor

 

Outlook Integration:

  • Microsoft Outlook 2000 or 2003
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0

Internet

Sage ACT requires Internet Explorer v6.x or higher. Any versions lower than v6.x will not be supported.

Email Clients

MAPI compliant email clients are required to use the email functionality in Sage ACT e.g.: Microsoft Outlook and Lotus Notes

Any non-MAPI clients will not be supported e.g.: Google, Yahoo and Hotmail
E-mail services.

Printers

Sage ACT will only print correctly on the printers below:

  • Wide-carriage dot-matrix printers
  • Laser Jet
  • Ink Jet

Reports will not print correctly on the types of printers listed below

  • Narrow-carriage printers
  • Non-Sage PDF printers

CD Burning

If you require assistance with burning a backup to a CD you will need to contact your IT department or the manufacturer of your CD burning system.

Setting up your ACT

An excellent ‘ACT Start Guide’ and useful Help Files are included with your software. Additionally, Sage Ireland offer training courses for users who are new to using our software.

It is expected that you will avail of these resources if needed. While we will answer specific queries relating to the set-up of your programme, it is not feasible for our technicians to walk through the full set-up process with you over the telephone.

These services are available for an additional fee.
