Payroll Support - Support Maintenance Definition.
The purpose of this document is to outline the restrictions specific to the services provided by the Sage Ireland Payroll Software Support Team. This document should be referenced in conjunction with the ‘Sage Ireland Terms & Conditions of SageCover’ found at www.sage.ie/legal
Terms of your Sage Ireland Payroll Support Contract
The details below apply to Sage Quickpay and Sage Micropay Professional customers who have an active (i.e. fully paid) SageCover Support Contract.
Within the specified dates of your Payroll Maintenance Contract the agreement entitles you to the following:
- To contact our Technical Support Helpline during operating hours
- To access the Payroll Support Section of www.sage.ie/pye
- Response to e-mailed support queries within 24 operating hours
- Software updates as required to facilitate compliant calculations of wages and relevant Irish Revenue submissions.
Please Note: The service is intended to assist you with technical queries relating to the use of your Sage Quickpay or Sage Micropay Professional software. The support service is not intended to replace a reasonable level of operating knowledge of the programme. While we will endeavor to support you in your use of the software, it is expected that you will also endeavor to develop an understanding of how to use the software via either taught courses or self-training.

Please note: Sage Ireland maintain a policy of withdrawing support for any Microsoft Operating Systems which are no longer supported by Microsoft. Issues relating to unsupported operating systems may not be resolved by Sage Ireland Software Support or Software Development Teams. Visit www.sage.ie/legal for more information.
NetworksQuickpay and Micropay Professional are supported only when installed on Client/Server networks. The following network configurations are not supported:
Peer-to-peer network
Citrix client/server network
WAN (Wireless Area Network)
Any remote/terminal network
Any network settings, mapping drives or connectivity queries are not supported by Sage Ireland. Queries of this kind must be referred to your IT department, Network Administrator or Sage Accredited Business Partner.
InternetQuickpay & Micropay Professional require Internet Explorer v6.x or higher. Any versions lower than v6.x will not be supported.
Email Clients
MAPI compliant email clients are required to use the email functionality in Micropay Professional e.g.: Microsoft Outlook and Lotus Notes
Any non-MAPI clients will not be supported e.g.: Google, Yahoo and Hotmail
e-mail services.
Micropay Professional & Quickpay will only print correctly on the printers below:
- Wide-carriage dot-matrix printers
- Laser Jet
- Ink Jet
Reports will not print correctly on the types of printers listed below
- Narrow-carriage printers
- Non-Sage PDF printers
If you have a query on how PAYE or PRSI is calculated you will need to contact The Revenue or The Department of Social and Family Affairs.
Sage Ireland have a training course available on manual payroll calculations if required, however advising on these calculations is not within the remit of the Software Support Team.
CD BurningIf you require assistance with burning a backup to a CD you will need to contact your IT department or the manufacturer of your CD burning system.
Banking SoftwareSage Quickpay and Sage Micropay Professional output Paypath files that are compatible with the standard format for electronic file transfers between banks in the Republic of Ireland. However you will need to contact your bank for all queries relating to the set-up and use of the software supplied by your bank to accept these files.
Error messages while uploading your bank file must be referred to your bank for an explanation. If the bank concludes that the issue is the result of a problem with your software this will be investigated by Sage Ireland.
ROS WebsiteSage Quickpay and Sage Micropay Professional output various files which are formatted to be compatible for direct uploading to the Revenue Online Service. Additionally the software is designed to allow importing of certain details from ROS. Queries regarding uploading/downloading files to/from ROS should be referred to the ROS helpdesk on 1890 201 106 or roshelp@revenue.ie
Setting up your payroll
An excellent ‘Getting Started Guide’ and useful Help Files are included with your software. Additionally, Sage Ireland offer training courses for users who are new to using our software.
It is expected that you will avail of these resources if needed. While we will answer specific queries relating to the set-up of your programme, it is not feasible for our technicians to walk through the full set-up process with you over the telephone.
If you prefer to have the programme set-up for you, please contact our Sales Department on 1890 88 20 60 to enquire about having a member of the Sage Professional Services Team or an Accredited Sage Business Partner assist you with the set-up on your premises. These services are available for an additional fee.
PRSI Code
Sage cannot advise you what PRSI code to use for an employee. You will need to get this information from the Department of Social and Family affairs.
Nominal Setup in Micropay ProfessionalSetting up Nominal Integration to your accounting system can be complex as a result of the need to adapt to the individual configuration of your own nominal ledger. For this reason, the setup of Nominal integration in Micropay Professional it cannot be handled over the phone. Please refer to the Knowledgebase Article on Nominal Integration available from our website.
