P45 details incorrect or only for one period
This can occur if the employee is marked as left in more than one period. In the employee details screen, Tax Deduction Card tab you need to ensure that the column called Left has only a tick in the one period line when the employee actually left. Untick any other left boxes that are not relevant and redo the P45 report to check the figures
Revenue has not decided how this will be implemented yet. There will be an update later for this when we get confirmation.

This error message occurs when you are using Windows Vista. One solution to resolve this error message is to turn off the UAC (User Access Control) in the control panel.
If you do not wish to turn the UAC off an alternative option is to change the settings in the shortcut properties so that Vista runs the application in XP Compatibility mode.
Right-click on the Quickpay / Micropay Professional shortcut and select Properties.
Open the Compatibility tab.
Enable the option “Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP (Service Pack 2)”
Enable the option “Run this program as an administrator”
By enabling both of these settings the program will seek data from its normal program folder instead of the VirtualStore, which is basically the same effect as turning off the UAC.
Error "Setup failed to register sage HR"
This issue can occur if the Quickpay is installed to the computer’s root folder, to help resolve this, you can try a new install to another folder.
Another reason may be due to anti virus software installed on the system. If can try disable or uninstalling the Anti-virus software and reinstalling the produc
Unable to locate Compression Root
To resolve this error you need to locate the Quickpay Professional folder and year directory which contains the company ID folder eg C:\Program Files\Quickpay \2008\WEEKLY. You then need to right click on this folder and choose properties, click the advanced button tick the box for compress contents to save disk space.
This issue can occur when you are trying to take a full system backup. The solution is to untick the program files in the list and just choose common files and the companies and it should let you continue with the backup. Taking a full system backup like this is perfectly fine.

Sage Micropay Professional
Dear Customer,
The Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest Act 2009 was passed by the Seanad on Friday the 27th February.
Following this, Sage received notification from the Dept of Finance of how the Pension-Related Deduction (PRD) provisions from this act should be processed though a payroll software package.
The PRD is commonly known as the ‘Public Sector Pension Levy’.
The Dept of Finance has also contacted the head personnel officers from each of the main government departments to communicate information relating to the PRD, and also to explain the delays in clarifying the details around this deduction.
The Dept of Finance has stated that a ‘best estimate’ should be used to calculate PRD contribution values for employees until payroll software packages have been updated to automatically calculate these values.
Sage is in the process of implementing this functionality using the specifications that the Dept of Finance has recently provided.
Frequently Asked Questions:
The following FAQs should answer any queries you have in relation to the Pension Related Deduction.
Who does the Pension Related Deduction apply to?
The Pension Related Deduction (PRD) applies to public servants who:
- Are members of a public pension scheme
- Are entitled to benefit under such a scheme, or
- Receive a payment in lieu of membership in such a scheme
When does the PRD come into effect?
The PRD is to be made for all taxable remuneration payable from the 1st of March 2009 to the 31st of December 2009, and for each full year thereafter.
If remuneration was earned prior to March 1st 2009 but paid after that date, this should not be included in the PRD calculation.
I am in possession of a full medical card, am I exempt from the PRD?
While full medical card holders are exempt from the Income Levy, they are not exempt from the Pension Related Deduction.
What pay does the PRD apply to?
The PRD is payable on all gross pay, including such payments as overtime, notional pay (BIK), taxable portions of Illness Benefit and Occupation Injuries Benefit (i.e. Disability Payments).
Where a company offers a salary sacrifice scheme, as in the case of a travel pass, this amount should be excluded from the PRD calculation.
Non-taxable payments are exempt from the PRD.
Any amounts earned prior to the 1st March 2009, but paid after this date are not subject to the PRD.
Is the PRD subject to PAYE and PRSI relief?
Yes, the PRD amounts are treated in the same way to normal pension contributions and will be deducted from pay before PAYE and PRSI are calculated.
On what basis is the PRD to be calculated?
The PRD is to be calculated on a ‘Week 1 / Month 1’ basis.
What are the Rates, Bands and Thresholds to be used for the PRD Calculation?

Are there any changes to Payslips, P35, P45 and P60 reports?
At present, the only one of these reports to be impacted by the PRD is the Payslip. The amount of Pension Related Deduction for the specific pay period should be detailed on the employee’s payslip.
A ‘Year to Date’ value should also be displayed on the payslip.
Who can I contact if I have any queries in relation to the PRD?
Please contact you department head if you have any questions relating to the PRD. If your department head has any queries, they in turn can contact their parent department.
For more information on the PRD please refer to the following websites:

Sample PRD Calculations (2009 Tax Year)
Note: Only payment values earned after March 1st 2009 should be considered as Pension Related Earnings for the purposes of these calculations.
Weekly:
Pension Related Earnings = €1,100 (Salary = €800, Overtime (worked after March 1st) = €200, BIK = €100)
Pension Related Deduction = €81.59
€340.91 @ 3%
€113.64 @ 6% (€454.55 – €340.91)
€645.45 @ 10% (€1,100 – €454.55)
Fortnightly:
Pension Related Earnings = €1,800 (Salary = €1,500, Overtime (worked after March 1st) = €150, BIK = €150)
Pension Related Deduction = €123.18
€681.82 @ 3%
€227.27 @ 6% (€909.09 - €681.82)
€890.91 @ 10% (€1,800 - €909.09)
Monthly:
Pension Related Earnings = €3,200 (Salary = €2,800, BIK = €400)
Pension Related Deduction = €195.00
€1,500 @ 3%
€500 @ 6% (€2,000 - €1,500)
€1,200 @ 10% (€3,200 - €2,000)
The following steps should be followed in order to manually process the PRD through Micropay Professional:
To do this, log into Micropay as the Administrator. Then select the Tables - Pension Link menu option.
To do this, log into the relevant payroll in Micropay. Then select the Company / Payroll – Deductions menu option.
3) Estimate the period value of the 'PRD' (on Pension Related Earnings for work completed after March 1st 2009), and enter this value using the new 'PRD' deduction field on the Timesheet Entry screen.
Open the screen by selecting the Processing - Timesheet Entry menu option.
4) If the employees are paid a fixed salary in each period, the PRD value will not fluctuate from pay period to pay period. In this case, a standard amount can be saved for these employees on the Deductions tab of their Employee Details record.
To open the tab, select the Processing - Employee Details menu option, and then click the Deductions tab.
5) The balance for the PRD will accrue over the subsequently processed pay periods, until the Micropay Professional update (V9.4) is available.
When entering a finish period it is reverting to the previous period
This occurs when you try to mark an employee as a leaver in the current period before you have ended your period. The correct procedure for marking an employee as a leaver in a period where they are being paid is to mark them as a leaver on the timesheet. Alternatively, you can mark the employee as a leaver in the Employee Details after you have ended your period.
P45 details incorrect or only for one period
This can occur if the employee is marked as a leaver in more than one period. In the Employee Details screen’s ETP tab, ensure that the Left column contains a Y only in the period line corresponding to the period in which the employee actually left. Deselect any other Left boxes, and redo the P45 report to check the figures.
Revenue has not decided how this will be implemented yet. There will be an update later for this when we get confirmation.

Cessation Cert incorrect after Bonus Run
The employee is marked as a leaver in the bonus period, but the Cessation Cert does not show the correct figures.
The workaround for this issue is that, rather than marking the employee as a leaver on the timesheet in the bonus run as you normally would, instead enter a Finish Date and Finish Period in the Employee Details. The Cessation Cert should show correctly then.
